Daniel A. DeMarah, Jr.
Daniel is an associate with the firm specializing his practice on patent application preparation, application prosecution, portfolio management and licensing in the chemical arts. From a technical standpoint, Daniel has prepared applications and responded to US and foreign actions for a multitude of areas including: spherical nucleic acids; spherical nucleic acid assays; duplexed DNA intercalators and their uses; high-density lipoprotein mimics and their uses; dip-pen nanolithography; polymer-pen lithography; graphene and graphene oxide formation and printing; carbon nanotube formation and separation; transverse thermoelectric devices and their uses; solar cell design; solar cell light-sensitive layer chemistries; ubiquitin- ligase inhibitor screening assays; small molecule ubiquitin-ligase inhibitors; surface enhanced raman spectroscopy (SERS) sensors; and devices to control vocal-cord timbre. Prior to joining Miller, Matthias & Hull, Daniel worked in the Technology Transfer Office of Northwestern University, and prior to that he worked for the venture backed coal gasification start-up GreatPoint Energy, and Nanosphere, a Northwestern University spinout. Daniel has a degree in Chemistry from Loyola University, Chicago; a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago; and a degree in law from Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is registered to practice before the US Patent & Trademark Office.
Elsa is the firm illustrator and as such is active in preparing drawings for the numerous patent and trademark applications the firm files. She obtained an Associates of Applies Science in Computer Aided (CAD) Design Degree from Westwood College in Chicago, IL in 2009. She also worked in the engineering industry as a CAD designer for many years in Albania and Greece with companies such as Alpertol and different architectural offices before entering the field of patent law. As our illustrator she utilizes CAD software to generate the various plan, sectional, isometric, and cut-away views, as well as flow charts, circuit diagrams, and schematics, needed to depict the inventions of our clients. While Elisabeta utilizes Vector Works in generating the majority of she figures, she is skilled in reading and manipulating files sent to us by clients in many different formats including, but not limited to IGES, MPEG, JPEG, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Corel Draw, 3D Studio Max, Sketch Up, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, , Premiere, After Effects, Flash, CAD Key, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Sound Forge, PowerPoint, MS Word, HTML, and CSS, as well as various other versions of e-drawings or even hand sketches.
