Miller, Matthias & Hull LLP Promotes From Within
By Thomas A. Miller - December 24, 2013
Miller, Matthias & Hull LLP has grown fairly rapidly the past few years. Most of that growth has been through new attorneys, agents, paralegals, illustrators and assistants we have hired out of school, or taken in laterally from other firms.
However, knowing that the best help often comes from those we have trained ourselves, we have also promoted from within the firm itself. In this article we wanted to highlight some examples.
Lupe Palomar has been with MMH since 2007. She came to us as a legal assistant with two years of experience at another firm, and having graduated from Fox College with a degree in Administrative Assistance prior to that. Once on board, Lupe quickly established herself as knowledgeable, thorough and focused. When the firm expanded to the point where we needed an Office Manager, we looked no further than Lupe to fill the new role. That was two years ago and we have been running smoothly ever since.
Megan Loye has been with MMH since 2009. She also came to us with a degree in Administrative Assistance from Fox College. As such, she worked with the attorneys and agents on a daily basis to prepare and file patent applications, amendments, appeal briefs, and other documents with the US Patent & Trademark Office. With her attention to detail, and dedication to the firm, she soon became one of our most talented and reliable assistants. Accordingly, when the need for a new docketing manager arose earlier this year, we elevated Megan to the role without hesitation.
Finally, when we have made such internal promotions, we have continued to add to our roster of legal assistants as needed, with Megan Boinski joining us in 2010, Celene Bautista in 2013, and our newest hire, Yasmine Nunez, starting with us as a legal assistant at the start of the new year.
Miller, Matthias & Hull LLP approaches patent prosecution as a team endeavor. It may sound cliché, but we are only as strong as our weakest link. As such, we put just as much effort into hiring, training, and retaining our administrative managers and assistants as we do our attorneys and agents. In doing so, you can continue to have faith and assurance that once you entrust your intellectual property matters with us, they will be in good hands every step of the way.
