Michael R. Hull
Mike was a founding member of the firm and beloved member of the Chicago legal community. He passed away in 2018. His quick wit, unabashed spirit and enormous heart were welcome sights to all who knew him and will serve as steadfast reminders of how we all should live. Words are inadequate in expressing our sense of loss, but we take solace in having known such a good man.
A transplant from California, Mike moved to Chicago after graduation from law school in 1990. In his 28 years as a Chicago patent attorney, Mike was a veteran of two large Chicago intellectual property firms as well as an international general practice firm, before founding Miller, Matthias & Hull LLP in 2005. Throughout his career, he specialized in chemical and mechanical patent prosecution, as well as patent litigation.
Mike was admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois and registered to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. He was an active member of the Chicago Bar Association, as well as the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983, a J.D. from the University of San Francisco in 1990, and a L.L.M in Intellectual Property from the John Marshall Law School in 1996.
